Pink gin originated in the mid-19th century and consisted of Plymouth Gin, a dash of Angostura bitters and was commonly garnished with some lemon rind. It was the addition of the bitters that gave the gin it's pink colour. Today, pink gin is a very different drink to the 19th century cocktail. Nowadays, pink gin is sweet and flavoured with red or pink fruits such as strawberries, raspberries or rhubarb. Perfect for those who have a sweeter palate, many people choose to drink Scottish pink gins with tonic, rose lemonade or even with a splash of prosecco.
