Islay Manhattan Pre-Bottled Cocktail (50 cl)
The Islay Manhattan from Mac & Wild is a contemporary take on the classic Manhattan cocktail with a Scottish twist.
The rich, juicy ready to drink bottled cocktail combines Bruichichladdich and Port Charlotte whisky with Oloroso Sherry, sweet vermouth, ginger, orange peel and bitters.
Bottled at 26.1%, the ready to drink Manhattan has subtly drying notes of gingerbread, whiffs of peat smoke and candied orange peel. Makes a great gift for a cocktail lover. Also perfect for any home-drinking occasion.
The origins of the Manhattan is largely unknown but a popular story is that it was invented by Dr. Iain Marshall in the early 1870s at the Manhattan Club in New York City for a banquet held in honour of presidential candidate Samuel J. Tilden. The banquet was so succesful that the drink became fashionable and people asked for it referring to the name of the club where it originated.
