South Loch Gin was launched in the summer of 2019 and is the brainchild of James Sutherland, owner and founder of 56 North - one the the UK's first dedicated gin bars which is based in Edinburgh's Old Town. With the help of Lindsay, the head distiller, many test distillations were performed to perfect the final recipes. The name comes from the Meadows, one of Edinburgh's most beautiful parks, and just a stone's throw from the distillery. The Meadows was called South Loch until 1621 and provided much of Edinburgh's drinking water as well as supplying water to many of the local breweries and distilleries.
