The Raven Spirits' journey began in 2017 when brothers Callum and Peter Sim embarked on a camper van holiday in the west coast of Scotland. During the holiday they visited a number of distilleries including Bruichladdich Distillery (home of The Botanist) on Islay. Sitting under the stars and recounting their visit to the distillery that day, the brothers started talking about the botanicals they would include in their own Scottish gin. A plan was hatched the next morning and they spent over a year developing their recipe, refining it and testing small batches. Distilled at a distillery in Royal Deeside, the Sim brothers launched their first Hrafn gin (pronounced Ra-vn) meaning raven in Old Norse. The name came from a fascination the brothers had as young boys with Norse mythology, especially with Odin and the story of his two ravens sitting watchfully over his throne.
