Electric Spirits Co.

Launched in 2015 by James Porteous, the distillery is based in the Tower Street Stillhouse and sits just a few yards away from the Port of Leith basin. In addition to their flagship gin; Achroous, James works with a number of bar & restaurant owners and event planners to create bespoke, limited edition liquids that combine both craft and flavour.

Achroous Gin

Achroous is an intense and spicy London Dry style gin made with a combination of classic and non-traditional botanicals such as sichuan pepper and fennel for a faint, herbal aniseed kick.

In the International Wine & Spirits Awards (IWSC) last year, Achroous scored 96 out of 100, winning a gold medal and achieving the 7th highest score of any gin entered worldwide.

The Name & The Bottle

The name Achroous comes from the Ancient Greek for 'colourless' and while the spirit may be colourless, the bottle certainly is not! The judges at the IWSC gave the following feedback on the bottle; "absolutely uncompromising and beautiful in its brutality".

As of July 2019, the bottle is 100% recyclable and 100% biodegradable so every element of the bottle can be recycled.

Recommended Serves

Perfect as a straight-up G&T served over ice. If you'd like to add a garnish then we'd recommend some star anise.

Love Tonic

We have paired the Achroous Gin with Love Tonic - a new Scottish tonic water that lets the flavours from the botanicals to shine through.

Love Tonic is made without quinine. This means that it doesn't have the bitter taste associated with classic tonic waters. The added benefit of this is that Love Tonic also contains less sugar than many other premium tonics as it has not been artificially sweetened to mask the bitterness of quinine.

Lovingly made in Scotland, the recipe has been developed and refined to create a tonic you'll love to drink.
